Like, the time before said molting, you draw and draw and drawlalalala things for a while, then comes a time when you look back on all your work and you say...

drew that? lulz wat epic phail. WAT WUZ I THENKEN. I can't even look
at these piecesssss ohemefgee BACK TO
THE DRAWING BOARDDDDD" (Well that's what I say))

...then you transform into a super artsy butterfly of truth, and you spread yer new IMPROVED wings and you either move on to new aspirations to draw and master, remake your old crappy art into a better looking 2.0 versions(Like I am right now XD) or just stick to drawing what you love, only with more awareness with every line you make.
